[BOD and Student Advisor Election] Please review all the nominated candidates’ application materials and submit your vote by May 28th (10 days before Annual meeting). You only need to submit this Google form once. The number of votes it represents is based on the number of teams the school registered for the 2024-25 season. Each BOD member (non-coach) has one vote. You are to select three BOD members and three student advisors respectively. You can find the application materials link in both the Google form and online at washingtonscienceolympiad.com/about/board/nominations
[Annual meeting] This year, we will host our Annual meeting on June 6th. The agenda includes
- Coach and participant feedback
- Chairperson of the Board’s Annual Report;
- Vote on the slate of Board of Directors;
- Ratification of any bylaw or policy changes
Meeting agenda and Calendar invitations will be sent ahead of time to all coaches. We wish most coaches will be able to join us that Saturday (before conclusion of school*).
[Alumni Survey] We would love for all your graduating seniors to remain connected with Science Olympiad, whether in Washington or another state. Please ask them to fill out our alumni survey to stay connected with us and to learn about opportunities for alumni.
[Summer learning] National office is offering a mix of virtual and in-person learning to help coaches get ready for the 2026 season. Register for the Virtual Event Bootcamp (July 8-10) and Summer Build Clinic (July 16-18). Not intended for students.
[State Director] The board is actively working on selecting the next State Director. If you know of anyone interested or would like to nominate anyone, please email statedirector@washingtonscienceolympiad.com We will try to include all potential candidates for consideration.
* Annual meeting date: Although bylaw stated that the annual meeting will be 60 days after nomination of candidates, the BOD felt that the bylaw was written with the annual meeting being an in-person gathering in the summer in the past. The past few years we basically met online. We felt it is important for the coaches to be able to participate more easily, therefore we decided to have the meeting in June before schools is in recess. Even so, we still want to give the coaches and BOD sufficient time (4 weeks) to review the candidates as intended by the by-law.
