The draft schedule includes a few trial events that we plan to run at state competition (and possibly invitationals and regionals) to spur interest and collaboration. For B division, the trial events are Game Agent, which introduces Reinforcement Machine Learning to middle school students, and Protein Modeling. In the C division, the trial events are Code Craze – Cybersecurity, and Quantum Supremacy. We are still evaluating Sustainable Energy as a trial event with a focus on fuel cells. If there are experts in your network interested in collaborating with WSO, please contact us. We expect to finalize all three trial events after national rule release and will share the trial rules then.
Team registration:
We will send out registration information in mid-September as we are still in the process of identifying host sites for regional competitions. Our policy is outlined here: https://
Hosting competitions:
We encourage more schools to host invitationals, especially at the Div B level. For example, it would be wonderful if our returning champions can help the community grow by hosting invitationals at their schools. If any schools are interested, please let us know and we can work together with the WSO board to make it happen. Note that all Science Olympiad competitions are covered by Insurance from the National Science Olympiad if the tournaments are approved by the State and National office.
Currently we have two invitationals for Div C confirmed by Camas HS (12/12/2026) and UW (1/23/2027), and one Div B invitational at Camas HS (12/5/2026), with the possibility of another (host TBD on 1/16/2027).
