Event Schedule, Rules, resources: National event rules and resources, including video guides for build events, are available at soinc.org. The WA tournament will use a unified schedule with 24 team scoring events per division at regional and state levels. Key WA changes include:
1. Sustainable Energy: This is the 24th event for Divisions B/C. The event rule is similar to last year, with minor simplifications to the build portion. Scores will contribute to team rankings.
2. Quantum Quandary: For Division C, this replaces Bungee Drop. Updated rule and last year’s state test and keys are available as content and difficulty guides. Scores will contribute to team rankings. – We will share more thoughts on this exciting event later in the season
3. Machine B/C: The paper test will account for 70% of the total score, with the build score counting for 30%.
4. Write-It-Do-It: This year it will be a sign-up event, similar to Code Busters B/C.
We will host three trial events for State tournament: Game Agent, Ping Pong Parachute and Code Craze. Event rules can be found in the unified schedule or from the national rule manual.
Build events: For some events, national rules now explicitly state that devices must be designed and built by the team. Please emphasize to students. While kits may be available and may be used by students, they must design, build, and program their devices themselves. It will be emphasized at Regional and State level competitions by the event supervisors.
